Question

After several years using Dreamweaver, It will no longer accept my password to link with my website

I am a book author and began using Dreamweaver 8 to promote my books. A decade ago I began using Dreamweaver 8 and created a 7 page promotion site. Then I switched to syndicated publishing and did not update the website for 10 years. Now I have a new book manuscript and again need access, but the Dreamweaver software will no longer accept my password to link with my website.

I contacted Tech Support & they no longer supported my version of Dreamweaver; however, they did provide me with a complementary version of Dreamweaver CS6. I installed the new software but am still not able to upload edited pages to my website (saclark.com).

Accordingly, I am seeking help to either (1) reset my password to gain access and load my newly-edited pages, or (2) wipe all the pages and link information from my website in order to create a new account with access to the website so I can up-load  all my pages to my website.

Please advize how I may proceed. Many thanks from a frustrated manuscript author.

I use free Filezilla FTP client to transfer files.  Click the GREEN DOWNLOAD button.

https://filezilla-project.org/download.php

Call your hosting provider to ensure you have the correct log-in details for your account.  After 10 years, things change. Hosting companies change hands, servers are replaced with newer ones, log-in details & permissions are reset, etc...

Nancy - Many thanks for your recommendation to use Firezilla. I downloaded the Pro version and it links to public_html just fine. HOWEVER, I still have a major problem:

I can see the remote site (/public_html) and it contains all my website pages. However when I try to upload a revised page, the status screen indicates the file was uploaded successfully, but the new page never shows up on the remote.  site files (or on my website).

Obviously, my uploaded files are being sent somewhere else.  Any ideas on how to find out where?

OLD SETTINGS INFO in Dreamweaver (which won't connect to Remote Site)

Connect using FTP

FTP Address: ftp.saclark.com

Root Dir: http://ftp.saclark.com

NEW SETTINGS INFO in Filezilla (Connection success but htmp files lost in 'successful' transfer)

Host: 107.180.4.158

In your new settings, why have you switched to an IP from the original address in DW? And if you update DW to use the IP instead of the URL, does DW work again?
