After the v 21.3 update I can no longer connect on my sftp server to publish my site.

And I didn't use any keys when using CoreFTP.

Try this workaround for servers with legacy connection protocols.

Failing the above workaround, continue using CoreFTP client to transfer files. Or roll back to your previous version of DW and server settings until your server is updated with new connection protocols.

Using latest version of Dreamweaver on a MacBook Pro with OS Ventura, site hosted through Network Solutions, SFTP (nor FTP) cannot connect. FileZilla, no problem.

Please help with amateur instructions. I've read through every tiny piece of advice in this forum and nothing has solved this issue. Network Solutions blames Adobe. Seriously, this used to be so easy.

In June, Dreamweaver was updated with security enhancements for FTP, SFTP and FTPS connections.

Network Solutions is probably using old protocols. If you have a previous version of Dreamweaver, use that instead. Or just keep using FileZilla.

I had the same issue with my site hosted by Namecheap. The configuration update in the linked article solved the problem, and I have asked Namecheap to update their supported protocols.

I am experiencing what I think is a similar problem. Mac OS 10.14.6, Dreamweaver 21.3. I am trying to connect to my site on AWS. I admittedly have not done this in a few months, but when I try to connect to the server now, it just keeps saying that "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information."

While it is certainly possible that my password is wrong, I haven't changed anything on my Amazon account in years and haven't had a problem getting in in the past. When I look at my server setting, it says to use a private key file for authentication. I have no idea how this was initially set up, I just know that it used to work. I looked at the troubleshooting page referenced above, but either it is over my head or it changing the legacy algorithms did not work. I am attaching the error file. I trashed it before my last try, so the data here is hopefully relevant to my current problem.

Hi @douglasb50285106,

Thanks for writing to us and enclosing SFTPError.log file. Can you please try the below:

1. Quit Dw

2. Replace the content with the below entries in the config file present within the folder "/Users/<username>/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 2021/<locale>/Configuration/SFTP/".

HostkeyAlgorithms +ssh-rsa,ssh-dss,rsa-sha2-256,rsa-sha2-512
PubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms +ssh-rsa,ssh-dss,rsa-sha2-256,rsa-sha2-512
PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes +ssh-rsa,ssh-dss,rsa-sha2-256,rsa-sha2-512

3. Save and close the file

Please be aware that this issue could be due to server using older deprecated protocols(per OpenSSH standards) and hence there could be other reasons for the connectivity failure which we will further debug in case the above doesn't works.

That did not help. HOWEVER, when I look in that directory, there are now TWO files named config. The one I made and the one that was there before (which wasn't there before I launched DW). That one contains this:

HostkeyAlgorithms +ssh-rsa
PubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms +ssh-rsa

I tried editing it and saving it, but it was no longer plain text when I saved it, so I created a new one using BBedit and saving it as text. I removed the .txt, but apparently DW did not see it or did not like it. Frankly, I don't understand how there can be two identically named files in the same directory... When I tried to drop that config file in the area below so that you can see it, it says "The file type (.config) is not supported." I included the config file I create (which does NOT end in .txt on my system). What now?
