I had to re-sign in. This is what it says:

Key Changes:

1) Upgraded Node to version 16.13.2

We have upgraded Node executable to version 16.13.2(LTS) fixing security vulnerabilities observed with older Node version(6.17.1). Upgrading Node version impacts below features within Dw.

  • Linting: Linting is the process of analyzing code to flag potential errors or suspicious usage of code. HTML syntax errors, parsing errors in CSS, or warnings in JavaScript files are some of the things flagged by linting in Dreamweaver.
  • Code theme customization: Customize the code colors by saving the code theme with a new name and editing it.
  • CSS Preprocessors: Using a CSS preprocessor, you can also produce cleaner and easy-to-maintain CSS. If you are creating websites that reference several CSS files, using CSS preprocessors like Sass, or Compass can reduce manual coding and copy/paste actions.
  • Bootstrap customization within New Document Dialog: Customize grid system and screen sizes while creating new Bootstrap pages.
  • Real-time preview of pages: You can preview your web pages in real-time as you code or design them in Dreamweaver. This feature allows you to code and preview your web pages simultaneously on multiple browsers.
  • Git panel workflows: With the availability of Git panel in Dreamweaver, users can independently work on code from anywhere, and later merge your changes to a central Git repository. Git helps you track all the modifications in a file, and lets you revert to the previous versions as well.
  • JS and PHP code hints: Dreamweaver’s intelligent code completion or code hinting features allow you to insert and edit code quickly by reducing typos and other common mistakes.

2) Upgraded third-party libraries within Dw to address security vulnerabilities

We have upgraded below third-party libraries within Dw to fix security vulnerabilities reported on previous versions of these third-party libraries:

  • LibCurl is upgraded to v7.80 from v7.69: Impacts FTP, FTPiS, FTPeS, WebDAV remote server connections made from Dw. With updated LibCurl, we will enhance secure FTP connectivity to users across Dw supported protocols.
  • Ruby and ruby gems version to v3.0.2 from v2.7.0: Impacts CSS Preprocessor related workflows. Dreamweaver uses a built-in Ruby-Saas compiler to compile the SCSS, LESS files. Dreamweaver also supports Compass, and Bourbon frameworks for compiling Sass files.
  • Xalan to v1.12 from v1.10: Impacts Extensible Stylesheet Transformation related workflows where XSLT transforms and controls the styling of XML data in the form of HTML.

3) Removal of OpenSSH 4.6 version

We have removed OpenSSH v4.6 from Dw and will leverage only OpenSSH v7.6 for remote server connections mainly via SFTP. With previous Dw versions, we were connecting to the remote server with OpenSSH v4.6 by default, and in case of failure, we used to fallback to OpenSSH v7.6 for successful connection to the remote server of the site. Hence for the users who have their remote servers configured with old protocols which are not supported with OpenSSH v.7.6, may have to confirm on remote server connectivity with removal of OpenSSH v4.6 version. Recommending users to use latest protocols as supported with OpenSSH v7.6 and configure remote servers accordingly for successful connectivity from Dw.

4) Heads-up on services to be discontinued

Effective July 01, 2022, below features/services will be discontinued in Dreamweaver 21.2 and earlier versions for all users. Please refer this page for more details.

  • Adobe Edge Web Fonts: Affects rendering of Edge Web Fonts in live published web pages since the service will be discontinued. When an Edge Web font is used in a page, an additional script tag is added to reference a JavaScript file, this file downloads the font from the Creative Cloud server directly to the browser’s cache and renders the font styling. If you are using Edge Web fonts on your websites, you can change them using Adobe Fonts or any other preferred fonts.
  • Extract panel: Extract panel provides capability of extracting style related information and assets from PSD comps, reducing the need to go back and forth between Photoshop and Dreamweaver. With this service being discontinued, the Extract panel workflows in Dreamweaver like extracting CSS, images, fonts, colors, gradients, and measurements, right from PSD components will not be available. As a workaround, users can use Adobe Photoshop to extract style information, assets from PSD components, and reuse them in Dreamweaver.

Known issues:

  • Mac only: Newly created code theme is not visible in code theme list under Preferences -> Interface section (Workaround: Restart Dw after creating new code theme)

Thank you for all your kind support. Please go ahead and try the latest build of Dw containing upgraded versions of key libraries. Please feel free to share your suggestions on overall stability of the build.

Installation steps:
1. Uninstall Adobe Dreamweaver Next from your machines by selecting Yes to "Remove Dreamweaver preferences" when it is prompted.
2. Install the latest build

Note: This build will be installed as Dreamweaver Next and will not affect existing installation.

Operating systems supported by Dw:
Windows: Windows 10 with minimum OS version 1903 (64-bit)
Mac: ARM-based Apple Silicon M1 processor with macOS v11(Big Sur) and Intel based processors with macOS v11 (Big Sur), 10.15, 10.14
