Hi all,

I am guessing that this post would interest at least some users, so posting it here.

We are excited to announce the availability of the Adobe XD Starter Plan. It is a free version of Adobe XD that will be available to everyone.

With the Starter Plan you can create an unlimited number of XD documents, export assets, and create videos. You can also have one active shared prototype and one active shared design spec, with the option to upgrade for unlimited sharing.

For information on comparing what’s different between the free and paid versions, see https://www.adobe.com/products/xd/compare-plans.html

To convert your trial version to a free version, go to the Creative Cloud desktop app and select update next to Adobe XD. This will end your trial and you’ll continue to have access to Adobe XD.

If you are new to Adobe XD, or have participated in the Beta, go to adobe.ly/xd and click on Get XD for Free!

For comprehensive information on the starter plan, see:

Thanks,

Preran

Whilst I thank Preran for posting about the free plan, I would be interested to know why you think Dreamweaver users will be interested in using Adobe XD?

It depends on the type of project to which a person works, personally I develop directly in Dreamweaver writing html, css and javascript based on what I want to see ... but there are projects that require many people (for example) and a part of the team develops the idea and the visual in Adobe XD after which the team of "programmers" makes the prototype real.

It is also an excellent way to study new solutions with drafts of ideas to improve the user experience and user interaction in certain situations ... therefore as a tool for study and analysis, prototypes in fact.

Features - By designers, for designers.

How will these designers get from mere "prototype" to actual deployment (code) ?

What is the XD differentiation / benefit amongst all the other current prototyping tools on the market ?

It's free.

My feeling is that the current trend to try and separate design from development will result in -

  1. Designers including unrealistic functionality, (or not enough).
  2. Small individual designers/developers not being catered for, (both positive and negative aspects to that one).
  3. The overall view of web design/development being lost in the trivia that such apps tend to promote in users.

What are these programs meant for anyway. I use Sketch to export images, logos to svg, some minimal graphics but they all seem a bit excess to requirement for a web developer, so who are they primarily aimed at, app developers as a simple way of showing what the app might look like before the highly skilled who know what they are doing get involved.?
