The File Auto Recovery feature restores the document after a crash or power outage.  So it does auto save  every 5 seconds or so.  But it only works if you've saved the file at least once.

See Auto-recovery of files for details.

AutoSave v NonAutoSave - both can be annoying.

I don't know how many times I forget to save a DW document before I can view the changes in a browser, which is annoying. Fortuantely I use DW very little these days.

I don't know how many times I have had to change what I thought I wanted back to how it originally was in another programme I use before I want to commit to the change, because it does autoSave, which is annoying.

Sometimes it can be good other times not so. I think the key is getting used to the workflow of the programme you most frequently use. It didnt really bother me when I used DW as my main bit of software because thats what I became used to.

It should be included as an option though.

DW does not have an autosave feature.

Over the years there have been a few requests for it. make sure to add your voice by going into the Help menu in DW and choose Submit Bug/Feature Request.

Oh yeah, I forgot about File Recovery.

It's not quite as useful/robust as the function in other programs, but I suppose that's pretty much a mostly-there autosave.
