Question

avoiding the cloud

I am using the trial version of Dreamweaver and want to use it on my local machine, but it keeps putting me out in somebody's "cloud".  I work alone and do not want to share work-in-progress files with the rest of the world.

"..it keeps putting me out in somebody's 'cloud'."

It sounds like you're confused by Real-Time Preview.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Real-Time Preview.  See screenshot.

You are under no obligation to use Creative Cloud storage unless you decide to.

DW CC does not store files on Cloud storage drives unless you tell it to.

First define your local site folder in DW by going to Site > New Site. See screenshots.

Tell DW where on your local hard drive you wish to store your project files.  For example, C :\MyTestSite.

Post back if you have any questions.
