Question

Basic problem; FTP error when I try to put

Hello,

Suddenly (as in overnight), I cannot use Put to publish files to websites.  The error message is "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host.  User limit reached or cannot make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data.

So far I've tried turning off Windows 10 Firewall and Avast but no luck there.  Does anyone have any idea why such an error pops up overnight?

A problem that suddenly occured overnight implies something changed somewhere.  If not your computer, then probably on the server side. Did you contact your host?

It could be as simple as your hosting company accidentally disabling your credentials.

Have you tried it with another FTP program, like the free Filezilla client?

If it works there, at least you'll be able to upload while troubleshooting continues. If it doesn't work, it would mean something on the server has changed and you'll need to contact your site's hosting company.

It works with Filezilla.  The only thing is that I get one of those "invalid credentials" errors during the upload.  However the upload continues successfully.

"Invalid credentials" message is coming from the server.

Contact your host.
