The desktop software you use to create your site isn't nearly as important as knowing the type of site you're running and how much bandwidth & traffic you need to support  Since you've provided no information about that, we can't make more than general suggestions here.

For static HTML pages on a small site with little traffic, you can probably get by with inexpensive shared web hosting on Linux servers.  For more advanced sites with databases and scripts, your hosting plan must support those as well.  If you lack the skills to do it yourself, a server management package is essential to keep your server healthy with regular upgrades and security patches.  Beyond that, it all comes down to what you need and can afford.

Every hosting service generally offers the same functionality in several configurations to meet a client's needs. I have successfully placed clients and managed their sites with NewTek, HostMonster, and NetworkSolutions. Have also worked with GoDaddy as a hosting service.
