Can a directory have a URL/page?

Not sure I worded the topic correctly, but this is my question.

Main folder for site is "MyWebsite" and folders below that are "images", "videos", "events".

In the main folder, I have most of my pages:  index, contact, blog, events.

In the events folder, I have:  event1, event2, event3.

On my mywebsite.com/events.html page, I have a list with links to:

  • mywebsite.com/events/event1.html
  • mywebsite.com/events/event2.html
  • mywebsite.com/events/event3.html

How can I make it so if a user enters mywebsite.com/events/ in the address bar, that it pulls up mywebsite.com/events.html instead of a 404 or "Forbidden"?  (Is that even possible?)

Thanks for any assistance!

when mywebsite.com/events/ is put into the address bar, the browser will look for one of the default pages.

Examples of default pages:

index.html, index.html, index.php

default.htm, default.html

home.htm, home.html

There are others, the above is as an illustration.

events.htm or event.html is not a default page, hence when you address the events directory, the browser looks for a default page.

As such, I suggest that you move events.html to the events directory and rename it index.html. Don't forget to adjust links to it and from it.
