Can't link to sites after upgrading Dreamweaver

So...Dreamweaver (Mac OS 10.15.2) upgraded to 2022.  Yet again, all links to existing sites are erased (THIS SOOOO PISSES ME OFF...EVERY DAMN TIME!!!).  All the help posts say just find the .ste file and it will reload.  WHERE IS THE .STE file?  A search won't find it..I've looked everywhere. I try to reload it under "manage sites" and it says it still is there and won't load. Can someone explain this like I'm 70? (I assume a 5 year old could figure it out).

    It shouldn't be the case, DW should carry that info over after an update, but since this isn't your first rodeo with this particular problem, in the future...

    1. Before you update, you need to go to Site > Manage Sites > click the site to highlight it > click Export to create a .ste file of your site. Rinse and repeat for each site.

    2. Store them somewhere you'll remember if it goofs up again. I regularly make .ste site backups and store them in a folder called, well, "Site Backups" just in case something goes haywire with DW and I need to reinstall.

    3. If for any reason the definitions are lost, all you need to do is go to Site > Manage Sites > Import then browse to your stored .ste files to bring them back into DW

    Keep in mind the above does nothing with your actual html, css or image files. The .ste only stores site specific information like server settings and FTP credentials. Your actual files are wherever you have them saved on your hard drive.

      Jon...I really appreciate the VERY clear explanation of what I should have done and will absolutely do in the future...any ideas how to get this all in when I don't have the exported .ste file?

      Do you automatically sync your DW settings to the Cloud?   If yes, you can probably import them from Preferences panel.   See screenshot.  After importing, restart DW.
