Can't view files in Dreamweaver that were created in Brackets

Hello. I need help.  I don't claim to be an HTML expert, but I'm using Dreamweaver MX, and I've received an HTML file which was created in Brackets.  When opening the file, I can view the code in the top split screen, but in the design bottom pane I'm only viewing a grey screen.

Pleeeeeeease can someone help me?

I need to make amendments to the file, but as I can't see the design I'm finding it impossible.

Thanks!

Can we see the file in question?

It depends on the flle.  Not all files have viewable content.  It may be pulling content in dynamically from other sources.  As long as you seeing code, it is working.  How about when you open the page in a browser?

If you are worried whether the code you received is any good, if you can post a link or share the source, that would help us to identify why you may or may not be seeing pieces in Design View.

As I said, I'm  no expert.  I have a 'header' and 'footer' that I need to add to the file so as to brand it, and also add in our unsubscribe links.  As I can't view the file in the bottom pane, I'm not sure where the code needs to be placed.  The designer using Brackets, can't open our Dreamweaver file to grab the code to add it in his end apparently (he's asking me to send a jpeg over, but it's been created as tables - not by me I may add!).

I don't doubt the code works, but I'm finding it difficult to add any of my code to their file.

    Thanks!

Use the W3C validation services below to check the code for errors.

Keep in mind that DW MX was built in 2004 long before current web standards.   A great deal has changed.   MX cannot accurately render modern CSS3 in Design view.
