Cannot get Dreamweaver to see my Git client

Question

I have Dreamweaver 2021 and Github Desktop installed on my MacBook Pro and neither one of them can see the other. I have followed the instructions given in "Adobe Dreamweaver Classroom in a Book (2021 release)", I have looked up tutorials here on Adobe.com and on YouTube, and I have read the article on the help site: https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/git-support.html. No matter what I try, the two applications very simply cannot see one another, making it imossible for me to continue the lessons in the text book past Chapter 1 because the end of the chapter requires you to use Git for all lessons going forward. Does anyone know what I might be able to do about this? I have already looked at some the questions and answers in this forum about the same topic, and I could not find anything that helped me solve the problem.

To clarify terms a bit, Git is a UI client. Github is file repository.

If you are a new Git user, you must first download the Git client below and create a Git user account. Be sure to sign-in to your Git account.

It's recommended that you install the Git client with the default configuration settings. Dreamweaver then automatically picks the path to the executable on your hard drive.
