I cannot import a "web-site" from which a help file is created using the MS help compiler. The individual files were created with DW 1 many moons ago and I now need to update them. The old .HHP file, shown below, includes reference to a Contents file and an Index file that also need to be imported in the new project..

[OPTIONS]
Binary Index=No
Compatibility=1.1 or later
Compiled file=..\HelpDH.chm
Contents file=HelpDH.hhc
Default topic=Welcome.htm
Display compile notes=No
Display compile progress=No
Full-text search=Yes
Index file=HelpDH.hhk
Language=0x809 English (United Kingdom)
Title=HypDeltaH

[FILES]
Data formats.htm
Equilibrium model.htm
Getting Started.htm
Heats of formation.htm
HySS.htm
Manual fitting.htm
New data.htm
Output viewer.htm
Refinement.htm
Restore.htm
Theory.htm
Titratiion data.htm
Welcome.htm
Samples.htm
Entropy.htm
Data collection.htm
References.htm

just recreate the site configuration from scratch. You will need the informations corresponding to the FTP access (URL, Port, Login, Password, type)

  1. Local https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/how-to/make-website-pt1-site-setup.html#define_the_local_site_folder_for_the_bayside_beat_site
  2. Remote https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/connect-remote-server.html

Forget about Importing.

What happens when you use File > Open and browse to the  file on your hard drive?

If it's a text file, it should be editable in ANY plain  text editor.

I have the same problem, I cannot import a site, since my older version of DW did not create a .ste document (or at least I cannot find it on my new computer). Of coarse, I can open any .html with DW and edit, but I also need to upload these files and sync them with the server.

How to proceed?
