Cannot put frame file

I have an index.html containing two frames. I can put the file for the first frame but when I try to put the file for the second frame nothing happens. I don't have a lot of information beyond that because I'm just getting started and don't know what I'm doing at this point. The files are:

index.html

index_frame.shtml (will put)

navpanel.html (will not put)

Any rough ideas about what I might be doing wrong?

Also why are you mixing .shtml with .html file types?

Most servers don't support .shtml files unless they are manually configured for it.

I don't know. This is an old website I inherited which was originally built using GoDaddy's web builder. The reasons for SHTML are buried in there somewhere.

This is a blessing in disguise. FRAMES are deprecated for a reason.

There is no advantage in using FRAMES and every reason to avoid them.

Then I take it that <iframe> will be used in place of <frame>. Is switching to <iframe> elements a safe move, or can we expect <iframe> to go the way of <frame> eventually?

If neither is to be used in the future, what code replaces <frame>?

No. <Iframe> is not the same as <frame> and <framesets>. Why do you think you need to use any kind of FRAME? Most websites don't need them.

For sitewide navigation, it's better to use a Dreamweaver Template.

Next time you try and Put a file click on Site --> Advanced --> FTP Log so we can know the error you are getting trying to put the second file.

The log shows that navpanel.html and index_frame.shtml were uploaded to server on Oct 18.

Try removing them from your server and upload again from your Files Panel.
