Question

change navbar location

Hi All:  I was wondering if there was a way to change a completed - top of page navbar - to a regular one that I can place anywhere? I know how to start one but this navbar has quite a bit of work done on it and I don't want to have to do over again.

Thanks.

While you can move the code anywhere its not that simple. For instance, if you move the navbar from the top to the bottom, you will have to update the code to open the menu in another direction, or if you move it to a side, then you have more work ahead of you changing vertical to horizontal, etc.

Why don't you post some screenshots or an example of what you are looking for and hopefully we can let this make sense or help you find a viable solution.

Presumably, your navbar is Bootstrap-based which means it is responsive on ALL devices.

Have you considered how moving navbar placement might effect its usability on smaller devices?

Hi Nancy.  I am thinking about this now.  I may not do it at all. Thanks for your help.

Answers to layout questions are in your code.

"Anywhere" is too vague. Please be more specific about what you have now and what you're trying to achieve.

Depends what you mean by 'place anywhere'.

Is this a Bootstrap navbar you are using, which is currently 'fixed' to the top of the browser window?

If so you can remove 'fixed-top' from the 'nav' inline class names and insert the nav code anywhere. If this is not a Bootstrap navbar you are refering to then you will need to show us the code and css.

Hi Osgood. I am using Bootstrap 4 and I have made a Bootstrap navbar that is fixed to the top like you say.  I was thinking that I may not want it fixed to the to so that I can display an image there with a logo layered on it and then put the navbar under this  image.  I will try what you suggest.  Thank you.
