Question

Code disappears after saving

I just downloaded the most recent version of Dreamweaver (20.2 for macOS), but when building a page, as soon as I save the file, the code disappaers. The correct results of the code do show up in the Live view (or even in the Previw pane of the Split View), but the code itself is nowhere to be found. Can anyone please help?

More than likely, you're seeing the "Brackets Code View Goes Blank" glitch, especially if you can see the code when you open the page in some other program, like Notepad or Simpletext.

You should be able to fix it by Restoring Preferences, or an Uninstall/Reinstall of the program.

Thank you so much - I believe it's the former. Please see the attached screen recording below. The code just disappears altogether. I've tried restarting Dreamweaver, uninstalling/reinstalling, nothing seems to work. Any thoughts?

I cannot reproduce it on my end.  Submit a Bug report from the DW Help menu.

And Restore Preferences as Jon suggested.

Are you saying visually the code disappears like a glitch in the app, or are you saying what you did is not saving?  If the latter, do you have permissions to the location where you are saving on your local disk?  If the former, we may need to see a screenshot because I will admit I have not heard of this before.

Vanishing code has happened to me more than once.  I think it's a memory issue.

It usually resolves when I close DW & restart my computer.
