Are the local site and remote server defined properly in Dreamweaver? Go to Site > Manage Sites > Servers... (see screenshot).

Can you connect to your remote Remote Server by hitting the TEST button beneath your Password?

Is File Synchronization enabled in your site settings under the Advanced tab?
