Question

Copy CSS not available?

Since the extract option is no longer available (and the course I'm taking goes over extracting) I'm attempting to copy CSS from Photoshop and paste into Dreamweaver.  After I copy the CSS from Photoshop, when I right click on my selection in the CSS Designer ( in this case, "nav") Paste Styles is not available. I know it's copying from Photoshop, because I can paste the CSS info into notepad. But why do I not have the option to paste in Dreamweaver?

DO NOT use CSS Designer Panels for this.

Photoshop:

  1. Right click the layer or object you'd like to export the CSS from.
  2. Click 'Copy CSS'

Dreamweaver:

  1. Create a new CSS file.  File > New > CSS.  Hit CREATE button.
  2. Save newly created file as myStyles.css.
  3. Paste code from Photoshop directly into the code view panel with Ctrl/Cmd + C.
  4. Save file with Ctrl/Cmd + S.
  5. Give your style rules an understandable selector name and add that selector to your HTML markup.

Common examples of selector names:

  1. TAGS:  body, header, main, article, section, footer, h1, h2, h3, p, ul li, ol li.
  2. REUSABLE CLASSES:  .class_name, .abc-123, .ClassName.
  3. UNIQUE ID: #id1, #Id2, #ID3 (can be used only one time per document).

Hope that helps.  If not, post back.

The code can be pasted directly into the CSS file.

As a side note: I think it is not wise to use a tutorial based on deprecated features.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
