Copy/paste text within a CSS file in Dreamweaver?

Why am I not able to copy/paste within a CSS file? This has got to be the simplest thing we do. I have been a software developer for thirty years and this is difficult in Dreamweaver?

Create a new CSS file by going to File > New > CSS and hit the Create button.

Go to File > Save As > mystyles.css.

Copy (Ctrl + C) & paste (Ctrl + V) into newly created file.

Ctrl + S to save.

is this CSS file generated from scss, or sass ? copy and paste is not impossible, but auto-compilation can be confusing

Copy/paste in css is no different than any other file, so there is probably an issue with your installation.

Try restoring preferences and see if it comes back in line for you.
