CS6 Dreamweaver software

Hi. I wanted to purchase the CS6 Dreamweaver software and found it on eBay. I have the copy in my possession. The vendor said:

"Hello, software is new, unused, but not sealed,full, legal version of this great Adobe Program...it is part of a business pack with 4 copies bought from Adobe."

As you can see below, this software is called a "portable" copy. It does have a serial # on the back of the jacket. Please see below for more details.

When you load the software it never gives the opportunity to register the copy.

Here is more input from a seller:

"The software works perfectly and is 100% genuine and completely tried and tested. It is also exactly as described.Have you followed the Read Me First file installation instructions that are on the disc? The software does not run right off the disc, it needs to be copied to your hard drive. It is called a mobile installation and is commonly used for trade software. It is meant to be user-friendly for more 'mobile' workstation like tablets and iPads, so it can be used on the move. You should get your facts right before making false accusations. You're just looking for any excuse to get a refund. Also, the listing clearly stated NO RETURNS accepted and the long distance selling regulations clearly state that UNSEALED media like DVD and CDs including software cannot be returned, as they can be installed and easily copied."

This is obviously cracked software or worse, malware that could potentially harm your computer and compromise your privacy.   I would not risk installing it under any circumstances.

FYI, Creative Suite software is no longer sold or supported.  You cannot legally purchase Creative Suite software from any agent, vendor, re-seller or country.  The only way to obtain legitimate software now is through the Creative Cloud Plan of your choice.   See link below for plan options.

Buying software that Adobe itself no longer sells via eBay is always risky would be the first thing popping into my head (I know that seems harsh, but I highly recommend only purchasing Adobe software through recommended resellers, as you never know for sure when purchasing via eBay, if the license you've purchased is indeed genuine).

The installation instruction itself already differ from standard installation instructions:

  • You'd normally always run a Setup installer straight from the Adobe software installer DVD
  • and this installer will always prompt for a serial number.

Thank you, Cari. It is my guess that there is no such thing as a mobile installation, right? This is an installation that automatically detects the serial number and does not ask for it.

I am also guessing that there isn't a Dreamweaver CS6 installation that doesn't install itself in the program file, so that if it is to be removed from the machine a person must follow the procedure of removing software. It seems the people selling this software on eBay (I have corresponded with 2 of them) say that you copy the files to your hard drive, and it just runs from there without ever actually installing the program on your computer. This concept just seems so wrong, but these sellers argue vehemently that a mobile installation does exist, where it is not actually installed on the machine, but simply copied to the hard drive, from which the program is run. Please confirm that this type of software is not from Adobe, but instead is bogus software.

You mentioned you were provided a serial number?

The best thing to do in that case is probably contact Adobe, and see if they can check the validity of the serial number. Unfortunately that's not something I can do for you, nor can I verify whether you purchased a genuine software license.
