Cursor acceptance/recognition, typing ignored, accidental file delete

I'm running Dreamweaver 2017.0.1 (Build 9346) on Windows 10 Pro (1607) 64-bit.

I have an irritating issue I'd love resolving if anyone can help.

When I click my mouse pointer within the main editing window and start typing nothing happens until I repeat the click, although I can see the cursor flashing I'm typing and nothing is happening.

That in itself isn't that much of a problem, it becomes more problematic when I highlight a line of code and hit delete. This results in Dreamweaver trying to delete the last file I clicked on within the file manager. Fortunately there is a prompt to ask; am I sure want to delete the file, but it's only a matter of time before I accidentally hit return.

Dreamweaver twitter support suggested I tried restoring preferences (details found here), but this had no effect.

It's a major interruption on workflow and I'd love to fix it.

I have heard of these problems happening when one is using a 2 monitor set-up with Dw 2017, I cannot at the moment find the discussion, but I don't think any solution was actually found anyway.

All I can suggest is that you contact customer support, and file bug reports for the problems at -

Sounds like a focus issue. Are your panels all docked to the application frame and is DW maximized to fill your screen.

Hi Nancy OShea,

DW is maximised to fill the left monitor, though my "Files" panel floats on the right screen. I don't really like to dock panels, I prefer the flexibility of allowing them to float so I can move them around to expose activity behind them, saves me having to move away from DW if I need to see a web page behind.

This is how I've always had DW setup and never encountered this issue before the 2017 version. It's also the main reason I use DW and have two screens.

Just to reiterate, when I click in the main DW editor screen I can see my cursor or the area I've highlighted, it's just when I start typing or hit delete I encounter the issue of DW not acknowledging the activity despite there being a flashing cursor.

Cheers,

Dan

Have you defined your site in Dreamweaver?
