Cursor jumps to bottom of design view

Opening a file in Split mode with Design View makes no difference. I deleted the personal configuration file, and it makes no difference. I add text or code to the top line of code, and when I move the cursor over to Design, clicking in the same line I altered, it jumps to the bottom of the Design page. I’m working on a long page listing some 200 journal articles and I’m checking that names are spelled correctly, etc. Every time I make a correction, I have to scroll all the way up to continue checking or to make another correction.
