Database connectivity with Access 2007

Hi Team

i was trying to make a connection between PHP5 and access database 2007. But dreamweaver is not processing it and it hangs all the time.

It was trying to do so to make a webpage with form on my webstie Lyricsandvideos.com.

I think i am doing something wrong in connectivity. Please suggest how to accomplish the task.

I am not sure why there is a useless link in the middle of my previous post. Now this is what Adobe Forums does whenever I post here by email. So either ignore that link (I can't edit my own post because I can't login using my own password) or just use some explitives to curse me. Either way I am logging out because I have a very important day ahead of me before the weekend. Also England is playing Chile at Wembley later today so that will keep me hooked to telly.

Yes you are doing something wrong. The mistake you are making is to use php to access Microsoft Access Database. You can't use php to do this because Microsoft technology is completely different from the rest of the world.

You need to use ASP (or even some other microsoft Scripts) to do this and your website must be hosted on Windows based webserver such as IIS.

Microsoft is very protective of its intellectual property and it does not allow any third party tools to mess around with it. PHP is a third party tool that is available free of charge.

Incidentally, Adobe has stopped supporting ASP technology in DW CC but I don't use CC so I have nothing else to say further on this. Jon Fritz is the person for such things as he has got full subscription to Creative Cloud.

Hmmm. This sounds like anti MS propaganda and is just plain wrong.

Again, this is not correct. You can connect 3rd party tools to MS Access via ODBC drivers.

Just search the web for PHP and MS Access to find out how to connect. It's not rocket science.

I would add that MS Access is not suitable for a real production site - except for very low volume sites. It's fine for a POC.
