I am displaying the position of two documents only vertically.

1. Go to Window > Toolbars > verify a check is next to the Document option
2. Click Split in the Document Toolbar that appears
3. To get the code to be horizontally aligned with the document, go to View > Split and activate Split Horizontally
4. Once that is done, you'll have a new option under View > Split to move the Live View on Top that replaces Live View on Left

Do you mean split view?

I'm not sure what you mean by adjacent horizontal code. Linguistically, it does not make sense. Have you tried switching to Code View?
