Dreamweaver 2021 - 21.3 - Is there no more update as we are now in 2024

Dear Community,

 

I have been using Dreamweaver forever. In the last few years, i have been paying the yearly amount of approx. $200.- I think i has been updating until 2021. 

I just noticed that it not updating anymore and that i was expected to pay anyway for every year.

I am not necessarily complaining but wondering why. 

I was told that Adobe Design would one day be replacing Dreamweaver? I would hate that as i am so used to Dreamweaver but am not objecting to trying something new.

Could you pls. counsel me on what is happening with Dreamweaver, and should i continue paying even though it has not been updated since 2021?

      There's a very simple answer, which won't be confirmed, but just think about how many other platforms there are out there which will build you a website, code you a website. These weren't an option in Dreamweavers golden years so it gained quite a chunk of the market, both professional and amateur. Adobe probably quite correctly doesn't want to be positioned in an over subscribed software market place as the financials don't add up. Yes for a small company they can earn enough from it but Adobe are big players and are attracted to bigger slices of the pie, it makes sense to cut and run from a sector with declining returns.

      You were told wrong. InDesign and Dreamweaver have as much in common as apples & alligators.

       

      Dreamweaver is a code editor in minimal maintenance status.  No new features are planned, except occasional security updates.

      One tool can't do everything. Never has, never will.  Use different tools for different tasks (hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc...).  It's the same with web software.  Use whatever works best for the project.

      You are correct, Dreamweaver is lagging behind with outdated versions of Bootstrap and PHP. Adobe have already stated that there will be no new or updated features added. This has been general knowledge since Adobe started removing popular features about 12 years ago.

       

      For this reason, I jumped ship in 2018 and started using Wappler.

       

      If you prefer a free-of-charge solution, then you cannot do better than to start using VSCode.

        If I were you, I really should make a fresh start with other software. DW developtment is letting us webdevelopers down.

        I switched to Wappler https://wappler.io/ and NEVER regretted it. It has so many design and dynamic data functionality, very low on code, but all the options if you do want to code. It speeds up designing dynamic websites with 800 % compared to DW. And it runs on every OS.
