Dreamweaver 2021

I am not an experienced user, doing simple static html to use in emails. When I use the preview item in the status bar bottom right, it works for browsers, but I really want to see how it will look in Outlook. When I try this, I get a message in Outlook that says "Unknown host in URL".  Don't know exactly what this means or what I can do to fix it. Help anyone?

Having worked on emails for many years, DW is not the best tool for doing this. You are much better off doing this with your ESP/MAP and using their tools/integrations like Litmus to do the testing across the different browsers.

ESP = Email Service Provider. Constant Contact/Mailchimp/etc.

MAP = Marketing Automation Platform. Hubspot/Pardot/etc.

If you are not using platforms like those and you are trying to send HTML email from Outlook you will end up with very inconsistent results as Outlook was not designed to send bulk HTML email. Also the HTML that renders in email clients follows much different rules than your browser.  The following is a CSS guide to look at the moment popular email clients and which CSS rules they will follow: https://www.campaignmonitor.com/css/ . As you can see there are so many nuances that this becomes a difficult, if near impossible task to try and code yourself.  I would highly recommend looking into an email/marketing platform to manage this for your business.
