Dreamweaver 2021 Help

Is there a "dreamweaver for dummies" I can turn to. In the past i was able to create sites using Microsoft front page. Some people reading this may not have been born yet. I'm not in the tech world although i've been using Photosho,  Illustrator and Acrobat for two decades.

I'm a photographer and want to build a site to organize my thousands of photos. I cant assume any one would want to buy my photos but i would like to have that option.

FrontPage was static site building software that only worked well in one browser -- MS Internet Explorer.  In hindsight, those were the Internet's darker moments.  😝   Fortunately MS had sense enough to kill them both. Good riddance FP and IE.

Become an Adobe Stock Contributor.  It's a great way to connect with potential customers and generate passive income from high quality photos.  Adobe Stock is used by commercial content creators worldwide and has a searchable database of 300+ million assets.

Quick Start Guide for Stock Contributors

Next, build a site with Adobe Portfolio (no coding skills required).  Portfolio is free site with hosting that comes with paid Creative Cloud plan or Adobe Stock Contributor account.  Best of all, your Adobe Stock collections will share with your Portfolio site.

Other dynamic website platforms to consider -- shopping cart fees are extra.

-- Squarespace - https://www.squarespace.com/
-- Webflow - https://webflow.com
-- Wix - https://www.wix.com/
-- WordPress (open source) - https://wordpress.org/  + WooCommerce https://woocommerce.com.

Hope that helps.

Another solution would be to go to Wappler, as I have done.

I have just started a playlist called Boutique that will show you how to create such a site.

Boutique - YouTube

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

I would strongly suggest using a database driven solution like WordPress vs trying to "learn Dreamweaver" in the hopes of organizing thousands of files in a meaningful way. Most hosting companies offer free WordPress installations out of the box with relatively simple point and click style insterfaces for making new pages and adding content. There are thousands of free themes (website designs) and thousands more premium (paid) themes available for WP, with an active development community.

In order to use DW effectively, you really need a good grasp on html, css and javascript. In your case, knowing php would be extremely beneficial, because DW no longer offers any viable way for a non-developer to create a database to organize that amount of information.

The program is on its deathbed and is no longer receiving new features or bug fixes. The only plan Adobe has for it is to leave it on life support with third party library updates, possible security fixes, and OS compatibility patches for the current userbase. It's not EOL, but the writing is on the wall.

I would strongly second this. You are a photographer, not a web designer. If you just need to get a site up, go with Wordpress or a hosted solution like a Wix/Squarespace/etc and buy a template that fits your needs and some of the hosted solutions will also help with the commerce. If you need something more custom, rather than learning code, consider hiring some help to manage your website for you.
