Dreamweaver 2021 is VERY SLOW always was

It seems like with previous and new updates the app is getting slower, laggier, introduces more hiccups, unresponsiveness it's just unbearable.

I recently tried Pinegrow html editor and wow Its like Dreamweaver on Steroids, so quick so responsive virtually no lag, buttery smooth when editing.

Everyone should switch to Pinegrow and you'll see the difference.

I personally find that both products are complementary: Pros of Pinegrow: The frontend design is its strong point, to create the aesthetics of a website it is in my opinion the most powerful tool on the market. Cons of Pinegrow: Although it has improved its code editor with the addition of "monaco" from Visual Studio, it is still somewhat poorer and more uncomfortable to use. Dreamweaver Pros: Code editing and project management (this is its best point) with FTP included. Cons of dreamweaver: Apart from the fact that Adobe no longer pays attention to it, it is (like many Adobe products) a slow and poorly optimized product.

If you're experiencing latency problems, that is not usual or expected behavior.

It may be caused by something on your end:  i.e. an improperly defined site or site files that are not immediately accessible to the app such as one might experience with networked or cloud drives like DropBox.  Also working in Live view takes slightly more GPU resources as it must refresh the screen regularly.   In my experience, DW in Code | Design view is much faster than graphics intensive apps like InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator.

If you continue to have latency problems with DW, reach out to Adobe Technical Support for assistance.

Thanks for the feedback.  However, as a longtime DW user, I have no problems using it on Windows 10 (ver 21H1) with Wamp local testing server.

Pinegrow is decent for some things but it lacks S/FTP, code editing (code hints, auto completion, linting, Emmet), and the robust file management features of Dreamweaver.  So I think I'll stay with Dreamweaver. 🙂

I'm on macOS, I don't use mamp or have use to upload to server from dreamweaver i store it locally when I'm ready I can do it once and not be bothered by some of the useless features Dreamweaver has. Dreamweaver is a dreadfully laggy and slow application that is a fact. You sound like a Adobe employee in disguise only Adobe can defend their products.

No, @Nancy OShea is no Adobe employee. Like most of us in this forum, she is a fervent user of Dreamweaver.

Like Nancy, I have no problems using Dreamweaver on the same platform.

The problem could stem from the fact that your are a wannabe web developer, in which case Pinegrow is an excellent solution. That is, until your realise that the useless features in Dreamweaver are not so useless after all.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
