Dreamweaver 26.6 constantly crashing on threadripper PC

Every time I click out of Dreamweaver, to check grammar in Word, or to F5 the offline browser of the page, or even to clean content code with a notepad, Dreamweaver crashes, and the spinning wheel pops up over a greyed out screen. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it happens EVERY TIME. I have tried cleaning out the cache and the preferences and settings. I have removed the app and reinstalled. Furthermore, I have run system cleaners like IOBIT Advanced System Care 19 Pro to clean out the system cache. I have also gone back a few generations of the app, but the issue persists.

Dreamweaver does have a spell check built in under the tools menu and I am not clear why you are bouncing to notepad in your workflow. Also F5 by default in the newest version will refresh live view which is not an offline view of your page, but rather it refreshes the live view based on your testing server setup.

What version OS are you using? Have you tried resetting preferences/reinstalling/etc? Have you tried logging in as a guest or an alternate user on the computer to see if the issue is tied to a particular user?

Sounds to me like too many resource hogs are running at once.

I sometimes experience latency issues when MS Word is running alongside other resource heavy apps. Closing non-essential apps usually fixes the problem.

Make sure your computer exceeds the minimum CPU, GPU & memory requirements. Most Creative Cloud apps work on these systems, no more than 2 versions back:

  • Windows 11 (64-bit) versions 24H2, 23H2; Windows 10 versions 22H2, 21H2;
  • MacOS 26 (Tahoe), 15 (Sequoia), 14.7 (Sonoma).

DW works best with local site folders that reside on the primary hard drive, not cloud or networked drives.

Unusual Behavior in DW? Try Restore Preferences
