Dreamweaver and Coldfusion or PHP

Hi..

I am setting up a user generated video site with online registration and flash video using alot of social media tagging type services. I'm new to web design and am using Dreamweaver to get me started. I am looking at using mySQL as the database and a specific company for the streaming hosting (any recomemndations welcome).

My question is should I use PHP (which is free) as the application server or should I use Coldfusion (more expensive)?

How well and importantly simply does either work with and when using Dreamweaver?

If PHP works well with Dreamweaver for a beginner then I will go for this (is cheaper) but does anyone have any views on experience on PHP with dreamweaver?

any help really appreciated

Dan

Stumpppppppppp..............
One differentiator is cost. PHP/MySQL is usually cheaper to host.
Another factor is setting up your testing server. WAMP is drop-dead easy and not as involved as setting up ColdFusion. At least that is what I found when looking into CF a few yrs back.
Next, PHP/MySQL is a good stepping stone into the database driven website world even if you later decide to include CF in your skill set.
Then there are some excellent books that can help you on your way. I find that David Power's Foundation PHP for Dreamweaver from Friends of Ed is a valuable references as it provides a wealth of tips and tricks to get going on, whereas Tom Muck's The Complete Reference Dreamweaver MX 2004 will give you a side by side comparo as you build a sample webapp in all the supported server models.
My advice is take your time to learn before commiting to a client project by going thru (at least) the abovementioned books.

Both PHP and CF are lead-pipe simple with DW. Both are robustly supported.
