Dreamweaver and FTP access to the SiteGround public_html folder

There have been a few posts about Dreamweaver and FTP-ing but no answers that definitively address the problem I am having. I have SiteGround hosting and have tried to set up the remote server to connect to it. Provided I leave the root directory blank, it tests OK. But when I set it to the public_html folder, I get an FTP error that access to that directory is denied. FileZilla connects to that folder, Dreamweaver shows it as a sub-folder of the root in the Remote Server pane, and SiteGround confirms that there are no restrictions on access.

There must be some DW users with SiteGround hosting who are using the integration without a problem or I would have expected there to be howls of protest. If any of you are using it successfully, I'd love to know how you achieved it.

I'm on the current DW build.

Before you try connecting again, can you click on Site --> Advanced --> FTP Log in DW. Then try to connect and see what the actual log error number is. Sometimes DW is funny about showing an error that is not necessarily descriptive of what is happening.

I've just had a look, Ben, but there's nothing obviously relating to the results of the failed connection although those successful connections where public_html was excluded are showing.

However, ruminating on Jon's suggestions, I've just tried setting the root folder to "mydomain.co.uk/public_html", and that's worked! Haven't the faintest idea why... I've been able to Put and Get files, so all's good.

I have a couple finnicky servers that require a / before, or before and after, in order to work...public_html/public_html/public_html/...worth ruling out anyway.
