Question

Dreamweaver cannot be activated [CS3 is dead]

I purchased the entire CS3 suite for Mac many years ago, and have more than one active websites created with Dreamweaver. Suddenly, when attempting to access any of the apps in CS3, I am faced with a popup that attempts to activate the program, but fails to verify. Notice says that it cannot connect to Adobe. This leaves me with no access to the apps, leaving me without access to my sites. I am aware that Adobe has discontinued support for CS3, but this goes way beyond support. Any of the CS3 forums I have found are old ones that provide no solutions to the situation, and many are locked, and unable to post any queries, hence my attempt to use this forum. Any insight offered here will be greatly appreciated.

That's right.  CS3 is officially dead now.  The activation & registration servers failed and were decommissioned many years ago.

Look at this as an opportunity to get better software.  The web has changed too much since 2007 when CS3 came out. You should NOT be using outdated web authoring software. Better software is available. If not a Dreamweaver Creative Cloud subscription, then something else.

-- Adobe Brackets (open source code editor) - http://brackets.io/
-- Adobe Dreamweaver CC - https://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver.html
-- Visual Studio Code (open source code editor) - https://code.visualstudio.com/

Use a dedicated S/FTP client like FileZilla or Cyberduck to move files between your hard drive and server.

Hope that helps.
