Dreamweaver CC 2017 slow

Dreamweaver CC 2017: the slowest and full of bug version since 1998

I'm using DW since first Macromedia version; Today, new version Dreamweaver CC 2017, on my iMac 27 Retina i5 3,3 Ghz with AMD Radeon R9 2Gb and 24Gb Ram, don't open any files in live view (previous Dreamweaver CC 2015 it is slow, but allows you to work): now, only code view.

We are only beta tester: it is not fair to pay for this "old-coded" and never really upgraded software.

    Hi Preran,

I found out what the problem in Dreamweaver: web pages with complex SVG graphics/images freeze completely Dreamweaver CC 2017 (not the same in CC2015 and 2014). I hope in an upgrade...

    Thank you

Okay I have posted to this thread multiple times and my frustration has not changed.  I have now upgraded my to Win 10, 16GB Ram 2 TB SSHD with DreamWeaver 2017 installed via the so called Creative Cloud - which it is not because the app gets in the way on anything creative..   It is still slow to respond to just about anything most of the time.   Every click on the main menu requires the little spiny thing 5 - 10 seconds.  Searching files is just bloody painful.  I do not see this with other programs on this PC.  When importing sites into Dreamweaver the application becomes non responsive.  I have been using Dreamweaver since  2002.  This program has turned to crap and somebody is in CYA mode.

For what it's worth, I use CC 2017.0.1 on Win10 and I do not have latency issues.  I suspect something about your sites or set-up is stepping on your workflow.

Are you working with local site folders on your primary hard drive (same as DW)?  Some people have reported latency issues with networked drives and files on externals.

    Other things to look at:

    • Validate code and fix reported errors.
    • Switch from Live View to Design View.  Live view uses more resources & must refresh screen after each edit.
    • Disable Auto Sync in Preferences.
    • Turn off Enable Cache in Site settings.
    • Turn off Energy Saving Sleep Mode in your OS.
    • Disable all other background processes such as real time anti-virus scanning or backup software to see if that makes any difference in your performance.

I've been having similar problems with DW2017 freezing when loading, at seemingly random points. Sometimes it'll load the site first, other times it will freeze with a grey screen. I too tried leaving it for several hours to see if it finishes didn't do anything. Disabling the cache on all my sites *appears* to have helped but that might just be for this session.

I don't know if anyone else has this issue too - if I enable the 'Standard' toolbar, it pins it to the top of the screen and it is utterly immoveable. Even if I reduce DW from maximised mode, the toolbar still hangs there resolutely at the top-left of the screen. 'Common' toolbar does the same and sits directly on top of the Standard toolbar.

I run a one-man-band web company. DW is one of the tools of the trade I use (currently), I can't afford to waste time working around basic errors in it, time really is money.

The standard toolbar problem is a known issue, and has been complained about by many. One solution to both the toolbar problems you are facing is to actually 'dock' the toolbars.

To do this move them to just above the document window, then to the l/h side, once the toolbar r/h side turns blue release it and it is docked. It will then stay in this position.

One note, what used to be the 'coders' toolbar, is now renamed to the 'common' toolbar and this can only be docked to the l/h side of the Dw, UI, (position depends on workspace).

That's the problem, I can't move them. They're stuck in the top-left of the screen and have no handles. No amount of dragging them will make them shift.

I found DW2017 froze when I was doing a site search for text.  I turned off Window Defender protection and it appeared to fix the freeze. It is scandalous that we pay a subscription for this software. There are so many resources bring used and processes running and conflicts happening.

    Hi all,

I checked with the team, and they are investigating slowness in DW because of accessing files from remote locations, and when handling files of large size.

If there are any other conditions under which you experience slowness, please post the details of your issue along with your device specifications. I willl log a bug for investigation.

    Thanks,

Windows 7 OS, Okay I have downloaded a Dreamweaver update through the Creative Cloud interface. No improvement. The entire interface of the Dreamweaver application is unusable  I leave it open for hours in hoping it will finishes what is wants to be doing and makes the UI available for interaction.  But nothing works.  No menus showing along the top, and it just shows recent file listings which are unclickable.  My workaround is to use Filezilla.  Seriously, a free app works better than Dreamweaver.  I think it is time Adobe should start refunding subscription dollars.  Corporations are not people; they do not have empathy, they cannot say I am sorry and it is okay.  No, no no.  Start returning some of the fees for this non functioning time sink if you have any self respect..

My Dreamweaver CC 2017 is unusable.  New PC Windows 7 Professional, business environment.  It just hangs (not responding) on startup.   I want a credit on my subscription until you get this fixed.  Cannot get to the Advanced Settings.

This is not Adobe customer care.  It's a public user-to-user forum.   We don't work for Adobe.  We're product users just like you.

Lavasoft Ad-Aware (aka Web Companion) is a known conflict with many Adobe products -- Photoshop, Dreamweaver, After Effects and others.   Uninstalling Lavasoft and its related DLL files takes care of it.  See link below for details:

I downloaded DW cc2017 yesterday. Initially very slow Opening templates and all menus responding

Then today very fast. Opening templates faster than any other version. Not sure if synch or software update fixed it. Very happy now.

    Running windows 10, i7 , 8gb ram, 256gb SSD

Thankyou adobe. Coldfusion tags great too. Now if you would just list Cfincludes that would be great. Ian

Very poor experience.  I upgraded to Dreamweaver CC 2017 last night.

Dreamweaver is hanging and crashing when I load old files.

Dreamweaver is hanging when I upload new files.

Update:  I just tried to load a browser on the right of my screen and dreamweaver on the left (by pressing the windows key and left arrow) & dreamweaver crashes.  "Not responding" and spinning wheel occurs.

I've tried installing to a new directory on a local SSD hard drive.
I have reset my preferences and cleared my cache.

I've also downgraded to dreamweaver cc 14  and the same issues occur.

    - 26 seconds to open the file

    - 30 seconds of a black screen.

    then the file opens.

I have lost 4hrs today... when I should be productive.

    Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_ltsb.160930-0600)

    Language: English (Regional Setting: English)

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz

    Memory: 8192MB RAM

    Available OS Memory: 8110MB RAM

    All help greatly appreciated.

What can I do to speed up the interface.  Can I turn off features that are not needed?

Update:  I have now stopped 90% of the lag, dreamweaver is not crashing or hanging anymore....

by changing the following settings in Preferences.

Sync Setting - turn off everything

Real-time preview - everything turned off

    Linting - disabled

Invisible Elements = turn off Show contents of included file

    In App updates = manual

Fonts = turn off dynamic font mapping

Code Rewriting = Do not encode special characters.

General = turn off show start screen / disable related files

I can now work again.... at last.

    * I'll continue to update this post with tips.  If you've spotted anything I've missed please advise, thanks.

I also have this issue. Interface is impossibly slow. Sync (get/put operations) are horrible. Sometimes I wait up to a minute just to select the files I need to sync in the selection window. Going back to 2015 now, because I need to be able to work in a timely fashion. The new formatting may be nice, but the interface lag is just maddening.

I have a very fresh install of Windows 10, DreamWeaver CC 2017 upgrade 9314 Build.

I'm never thrilled to have to re-learn how to do simple tasks in DreamWeaver after an upgrade.

Wasn't thrilled that my Preferences and Workspace Layout settings evaporated either.

But the most serious issue for me is that DreamWeaver appears to Freeze and is very laggy, especially after I click the 'Expand to show Local and Remote Sites' button in the Files Panel and then attempt to click on a column header to sort files Alphabetically, by Date or Type.  DreamWeaver appears to be unresponsive for several seconds before sorting the files.  Is this a cache issue? Honestly, it's a bit annoying, as this wasn't an issue for me before the upgrade.

I'm finding DW 2017 to be very fast and responding to commands without lags.   Also on Win10 64-bit.  Are you working with files stored on your primary hard drive instead of a networked/shared drive?
