Jeffrey Bardzell wrote a book called Dreamweaver 8 with ASP, ColdFusion and PHP. That will help you learn how to work with DW and CF as well as the basic concepts of dynamic application development. Since you are using DW8, I'd go for that version of the book. If you can't find a used copy of that around, Adobe Press has just updated the book for DW CS3. I did the rewrite and other than the introduction of the Spry functionality in DW CS3, you should not find the parts relating to CF changed in relation to CS3. However there is more CF info in this version of the book simply because it is my primary language and I scrutinized those sections pretty carefully.
