Dreamweaver Crashes on Large Files

Hi,

Does anyone have the solution to this problem? When I open a large file, appox. 1800 lines of code on the current page im working on, Dreamweaver 8 will freeze up. I get the hourglass cursor and Dreamweaver 8 turns to "Not responding". This file is fine to open in Dreamweaver MX 2004 which is what I'm currently using. Any solutions?

Correct answer
Cool! I found the fix. Tom Muck's website had solutions to help speed up MX 2004 and I tried each step one at a time to find the problem and eventually got to it!

If you are using (you prolly are) a server application like ASP VBscript or PHP, you should turn off server behaviors (as long as you dont need them). This is done by renaming the folder in Configuation/ServerBehaviors/YourServerApplication folder and creating a new one with the same name, that contains nothing.

EXP: If you are using VBSscript rename the folder Configuration/ServerBehaviors/ASP_Vbs to ASP_VbsOLD and create a new blank folder named ASP_Vbs.

I also attached a link toTom Muck's site that has alot of other helpful hints (some dont apply to DW8)

P.S. DownWithBugs - Haha, threats.. I was meerly giving you a feel for how serious this problem is. That's ok though, your one liner responses arn't very helpful anyway. If you want to actually "help" people, then maybe become a little more involved, or heartful about your posts. Otherwise you're just a troll, yeah?

This did nothing. I am in code view anyway, not in design mode.

I believe this is just a giant bug that's in dreamweaver 8 and the company I work for is about to revoke all our licensing from dreamweaver 8 because we can't even use it.

I also emailed dreamweaver support about this, but what a surprise! I got no response.
