dreamweaver crashing 2024

I'm sure nobody will hear my cries. There is no support from Adobe. However. I have a website that I have had going for at least the past three years. I just opened the Dreamweaver to add something to it and it is obvious that Dreamweaver is not attaching the template and/or the css properly. When I look at the code, there are fragments of code where there should be whole lines. Corrupted? I guess that's what it is. It was okay a few weeks ago when I opened it to do something similar. Somehow, sitting there, on my computer, it totally f---ed up.  Luckily, it is not bad on the internet. My website (actually there are two of them) still look okay, but need updates. I have been fiddling with it for three days now and nothing has improved except the amount of stomach acid I make. I even tried deleting and reinstalling the software, but nothing changed. I'm seriously looking for another webpage producer.

I have done a screen shot of how my page ends in the code.  Mid word.

I did come around to that and downloaded the css and the template and overwrote them in the file. It worked on one. So far not on the other one, which is way more complicated and comes from a one-page template I downloaded online.  At this point, since it's only one page, I'm starting over with my own code.

Thank you for answering.

Not a very sensible way to start. But then I guess I am a nobody, so here goes.

First, you need to fix these errors:

Second, supply the URL to your website(s) and we will see how we can further help you.

I've got that one fixed. I knew to fix those things. They were happening because of the corruption. Now, I'm on to another I didn't show. I have decided to start over on it because it's one page.  Thank you anyway.

It's not usually a good idea to mix templates like this on static content sites. Eventually as your site grows, moving to a content management system (CMS) may be a better move for you to store the content and the templates separately and just manage them online. You can also free yourself of dependancy on a particular code editor and use any editor you like. These types of systems range from self-hosted ones like Wordpress to managed ones like Webflow or Wix.

I can't explain why the file looks like that or how it came to be as you show it but if the files in your site online are fine and you have a defined site in Dreamweaver, I would download the file from the server and start using that to edit because your local file is missing part of the source. Then you will be fine to continue editing.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
