Hello All,

I am posting on behalf of one of my students, for whom English is a second language (and not comfortable posting). She has a paid subscription to Creative Cloud, is using a Windows OS11 laptop and has downloaded and installed Dreamweaver. However, the app continues to crash after launch - despite uninstalling and reinstalling several times. Any ideas how to address the following error recieved each time:

Thank you both for your reply....

Yes Nancy, the student was using the latest Windows 11 (64-bit). But as Jon suggested, Windows was missing something. This turned out to be the Dynamic Link Library.

The student had already (of course she did) Googled the error (mfc140u.dll missing windows 11), found a YouTube video and installed the .dll - problem solved 🙂

    Teachers are becoming obsolete (sigh).

Oh gosh, let's hope not.  The world needs good teachers more now than ever before.

Which version of Windows?  MS usually ships latest C++ with their OS updates.  Perhaps the student hasn't updated Windows in a while.   I would start there.

To use Creative Cloud Apps, the computer should meet minimum CPU & GPU requirements.  Most Creative Cloud apps work on:

    • Windows 11 (64-bit), Windows 10 versions 22H2, 21H2, 21H1.

    Hope that helps.

Typically, when that error comes up, it means Windows is missing part of the C++ Redistributable Package.

Installing it should clear it up: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
