Dreamweaver CS3 [CS3 IS DEAD!]

I have a perpetual licence and my computer crapped out and installed dreamweaver on the new computer but i can never get it activated. I assume its because i was never able to deactivate on the other machine, which i dont have anymore. Not sure what to do.

That's right. The steps above don't work and never will because:

1. This discussion is 2-1/2 years out of date.

2. CS3 is officially DEAD. Adobe discontinued all support for it.

If you had upgraded to CS4, CS5 or CS6 when you still had the chance, you'd be able to use your software. But since you didn't, there is no possible way to re-install your 13 year old software. Suggest you keep using CS3 on your old laptop for as long as you can. Get modern software for your new equipment.

None of the above steps works for me. I bought a new Laptop in Dec 2020, I have Dreamweaver CS3 working on my old laptop since 2017. Now I am not able to activate my Dreamweaver which I bought in good faith from Adobe and now I cannot use it. This is not right. I do not and cannot afford the Creative Suite every single month. I do not use it everyday only once in awhile when I have to update my website. This is not right.

CS3 is old software. The activation servers for it were taken offline a while ago. You'll need to get a new CS3 installer and a new serial number that does not require activation. Also keep in mind that CS3 was built to run on older operating systems. See correct answer below for details.

It's likely because the activation server for CS3 have been taken down. You can no longer activate the version of CS3 that you have, but, because you do have a valid activation number, you can download a new, offline activation version from Adobe by following this info...

1. Go to the Adobe support page here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/activation-fails-cs3-acrobat-8.html

2. Log in (or sign up and log-in) and enter your current CS3 activation when prompted

3. Write down the new code given by Adobe

4. Keep this Adobe page open, it has download links you'll use later...

5. Close out of any CS3 programs and uninstall completely from the OS level

6. When done, browse to c:Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe and delete the folder there

7. Click on the first of the two file links (file 1 of 2 and file 2 of 2) on the Adobe CS3 install page.

8. A note may appear half way through the first install about a "missing AdobePDF.dll file". Browse to the file at c:Windows/sysWow64/ and click okay

9. Once the installations complete, open CS3. It will ask for the new serial number obtained from the Adobe website in Step 1

10. If you see a box to Register, click on "Never Register." and that should be it
