Question

Dreamweaver CS4 on my Apple Book Pro boots up and then quits unexpectedly

My Dreamweaver CS4 has worked just fine for several years on my Apple Mac Book Pro.

Recently, it will boot up and then quit unexpectedly.

Message is always the same:  "Wrong password"

I do not have a chance to enter password for my remote server because it quits and completely disappears.

How can I fix this problem.

    @Gary29418765y6oo,

Try entering  your Mac password instead.  Your computer's UAC probably needs to access your keychain.

That said, CS4 cannot be re-activated.  The old activation servers no longer exist.  As of this writing, only CS5 and CS6 (both of which are on life support) can still be activated beyond the trial period.

Best advice, switch to a modern code editor.  Legacy software is unfit for creating websites in 2023. The web has changed too much in 10+ years.  Meanwhile old software is anchored in the 'land that time forgot' [insert image of dinosaurs].

    CODE EDITORS:
    -- Adobe Dreamweaver CC - https://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver.html
    -- Codespaces (free, browser-based) - https://github.com/features/codespaces
-- Nova (Mac only, formerly called Coda) - https://nova.app/
    -- Pinegrow - https://pinegrow.com/
    -- Sublime Text - http://www.sublimetext.com/
    -- Visual Studio Code (free) - https://code.visualstudio.com/
    -- Wappler ~ Visual Web App Builder - https://wappler.io/

    Hope that helps.

Nothing in DW should prompt a message wrong password when trying to start up the application. Based on that version only the FTP connection could throw that error. How old of a MBP are we talking about here and what OS are you running? Also, can you try creating a new user account on the computer and see if the same error happens when you start DW?

Please stop spamming. One topic is enough. I have moved the other two discussions to the Holding Room where they will be scrutinised by Adobe Staff.

I apologize. I was not spamming. This is my first time to use this
format. I was not sure whether my first efforts to log this question had
been properly submitted. I will be more careful, and I am now better
    informed.
    Sincerely,

I should apologise as well. It is always hard to know with whom we are dealing with the result that, at least I, think of the worst.

As far as your problem is concerned, I think it may be hard to find a solution because of the age of the product. But don't despare, a few more knowledgable users of Dreamweaver will be along soon to hopefully help you out.
