Trying to reinstall DW CS5.5 on my new computer after my old computer stopped working.  When I try to run from the disc (2011) I get the error

Adobe installer is already running.  Please close other Adobe installers and select retry option to continue with this installation

Would appreciate help.

Thank you,

Kim

Hi Kimberly,

Thank you for trying to troubleshoot, we are sorry to hear you are having trouble in re-installing DW CS5.5 on your new computer.

As Nancy mentioned that there might be chances of another installer running in the background. Would you mind checking this article Troubleshoot error messages in Adobe Bootstrapper Creative Suite 5.5 and CS5 and share the results with us?

Thanks,

Harshika

Thank you for your help.

I have now been able to get as far as "Initializing Installer" and the green bar progresses across and completes and then nothing.

Further suggestions?

Thank you,

Kimberly

Some process (anti-virus or firewall)  is competing with installation.

  • Reboot computer in Safe Mode.
  • Create a new computer user account with full read, write & administrative level permissions.

Have rebooted computer several times.  Same error every time.

I t sounds like another installer is running in the background.  See if this helps.

I have checked the task manager and stopped it and rebooted several times.  I am about ready to give up.

I've tried

  1. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc and press Enter.
  2. Double click on Windows Installer and in General tab, click on Stop.
  3. Click on Apply and OK.

This does not fix my problem
