Dreamweaver CS5 - unable to connect to server

I manage the website for my local Humane Society.

Due to security changes on our host server, I am now unable to connect to the remote host.

Therefore, unable to upload any updates to our website.

Any suggestions???

Correct answer Jon Fritz

no, the fields are not blank.  just did not want to share my info.

Just making sure, you'd be surprised how many times people have come to the forum looking for help connecting their site and they just flat out didn't have any FTP info.

Have you tried connecting with a dedicated FTP application like the free Filezilla Client?

Download the free Filezilla Client and see if you can upload from there.

If you can't, talk to the hosting company and make sure your FTP credentials haven't been goofed up somehow.

I did download the Cyberduck Client, and was able to upload.  But, would much rather be able to do so direct from Dreamweaver.  I'm in contact with my host now.  thank you.

OK, looks like it's a DW issue and not just an FTP credentials problem.

One thing to note, if you have Yahoo for hosting, apparently they just changed their hosting service to TLS 1.2 and the older versions of DW do not support it. Being a half dozen or so versions removed from the current offering, Adobe no longer supports or updates CS5. So you'd be stuck using an external FTP application that's still receiving updates as technologies change. Filezilla and the rest are pretty tiny programs so it's not generally a huge deal to upload.

If your hosting server hasn't changed anything, there are a few things you can try to get DW to upload again.

Under Site > Manage Sites there are additional options for your FTP settings that can be toggled on/off to see if it will make a difference on your server. When you get to your remote server, click the Advanced tab and try every combination of "Use Passive FTP" and "FTP Performance Optimization". One of those various settings may do the trick.

If that doesn't work, it's possible your Site Definition has become corrupt. Creating a new site from the current local root folder can sometimes bring functionality back. Just go to Site > New and choose the current root directory, then re-add your FTP credentials/info and see if it works from there.
