Question

Dreamweaver CS5 won't run after last night's Mac OS update

Hi,

I checked with Adobe and they suggested I download and install a new copy. I downloaded the image, when I select it, I get a screen with Dreamweaver CS5. When I double click that, finder opens a window with install.app. I double click that and get a message 'Install.app can't be opened. You should eject the disk image'. When I do, it closes.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Doug

This page may do the trick for you, if you're on Sierra...

Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

    Hi Jon,

Thank you very much. That worked perfectly. It reinstalled the download.

Unfortunately, I'm still having the same problem. When I launch DW, the title bar at the top shows DW but there is no start menu. The DW dropdown shows services (no services apply is greyed out), hide DW, hide others and quit DW.

Any ideas on why it isn't starting the normal way? It had been working properly until this morning when the latest mac os update ws installed.

    I greatly appreciate your help.

    Doug

CS5 was created when Snow Leopard was the latest and greatest from Apple. That's six OS versions, and any number of patches, away from what you're using now. The Windows equivalent would be attempting to run a program designed for Windows 98 on Windows 10.

It may just be that it's finally too old to function correctly.

I don't know enough about the Mac OS past Leopard (the last one I used) to offer any other suggestions, sorry.
