Hi, I'm trying to update my old website. I have saved the new changes in the local files, but somehow clicking the put files button doesn't update my live website. I am connected to my live webstie and is able to see the connected icon on the top right corner.

Thank you anyone who could help.

If what Nancy suggests works, it means your FTP settings are goofed up on the server.

You'll need to contact your hosting company and have them give you the ability to overwrite existing files.

Switch to Remote Server from your Files Panel.

Delete the old file from server.

    Switch back to Local view.

    Upload the newly edited file.

Post back if you need more help.

Hi, I tried to delete the old fild from the server but it still does not work.

I am very new to Dreamweaver and not knowing much about it.

I am trying to update my website which is just chaging a picture from the old website.

Would I need to download the original website to my local files before uploading it online?

Thank you so much for your help,

Yes.  You cannot change files on the server.  You must work with local files on your computer's hard drive.  Save changes and THEN upload changed files to server.

Define your site.  Go to Site > New Site and make a folder on your hard drive for site files and assets to reside in.  See screenshots.

Then click on Servers tab and enter your remote server's FTP log-in details — as provided to you by your web host.

I hope that makes more sense now.  Post back if you need more help.
