Dreamweaver editing problems

Dreamweaver is not allowing me to edit in split mode or design mode, only the code. Please can anyone let me know how to fix this, it is very time consuming losing this option

OPTION 1: Switch to Design view (Ctrl + Shift + F11).

OPTION 2: In Live view, double-click on text or heading 'til you see a gold box. See screenshot.

It seems to be working properly again now since I reinstalled!! Appreciate your help tho.

In the bottom of your document window, is there a green check, or red x icon...

...if you're seeing the red x (as shown above), you have code errors that could be confusing DW. Clean up any code errors you have by visiting https://validator.w3.org/nu/ and DW may start working again. If you're working with error free code, and it still acting up, you could try restoring DW's preferences which tends to fix a lot of strange behavior.

Hi I checked that but the html and css are both green tick.

What does DW preference restore do?

It wipes DW's preferences file and restores the factory default, clearing out any coruptions that frequently cause odd behaviors.

If you use extensions, they'll need to be reinstalled, and your workspace will need to be reset, but it won't affect any of your site files (.html, .css, .js, etc).
