Question

Dreamweaver freezes 5 minutes before opening a PHP page (if you include KendoUI)

We found that Dreamweaver freezes for several minutes if we include this line of code in a PHP page:

<script src="./jsk/kendo.all.min.js"></script>

When we try to use "Kendo UI for PHP & Jquery", Dreamweaver detects that the ".jsk" folder has a lot of ".js" javascript files (about 95Mb!) and starts parsing them all, loses minutes thinking about the content of this page when we just want to edit the content of our PHP page!

Therefore, Dreamweaver is interpreting the javascript files that are referenced in a PHP page BEFORE opening the page, completely freezing Dreamweaver for several minutes.

This situation is desperate!! If we uninstall Dreamweaver and reinstall it again, it's fine, but after a few days, everything freezes again!!!

We think this is a bug in Dreamweaver.

Does anyone know anything about this?

How could we disable the "preprocessing" of this folder and these Javascript files?

One more thing, switch to Design View when working with PHP files.

    Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F11.

Live view requires constant saving & refreshing which slows things down.

Thanks, we mostly use code and design view, we never use "live" view.
And the problem remains even when the page that opens on Dreamweaver startup shows the code first.

As a workaround, you could try putting the offending script into a server-side include file.  Scripts inside include files must be parsed by a server. That might take some of the burden off DW so you can edit your PHP pages.

Thank you, however I need to have the files in a local folder as we often program without an internet connection.

If you have a local testing server, you can work offline.

Another thing you might try is disabling cache from Manage Sites panel.

What's a KendoUI???  I've never heard of it.

In terms of bug fixes, don't hold your breath.  DW is not receiving any new features.  It's minimally maintained now.

Kendo UI is an interface framework for jquery like any other, the problem here is what Dreamweaver does with your files, which is needlessly inspecting them.
And on top of that, freeze 5 minutes to do it!!!
