Dreamweaver FTP settings for AT&T hosting

I recently had to subscribe to Creative Cloud after my old CS3 license expired. So I lost all my stored FTP connection credentials. I'm trying to reconnect to my client's site to make changes and edits, but just can't connect. I'm 99% sure I have the correct username and password (my client sent that today) but suspect it might be the Server Name and FTP Address. I spent time online with AT&T chat, got the Server Name (series of numbers -- I seem to recall using the URL before) and they claim FTP Address is not required. But it's a required field in Dreamweaver FTP.

I have no problem connecting to my sites, is there something different about AT&T hosting that the agent helping didn't get?

Is there a way to look up these settings by URL?

Thanks for any guidance.

Dave

Hmm ... so I tried that. If I understand correctly, after uploading that to my remote server and typing the address in my browser's address bar it should send a test to my email automatically? It didn't ...

I guess I will have to find what GoDaddy's alternative is to php for a simple comment box ...

    Thanks again.

To clarify terms, PHP = a server-side programming language.

PHP Mail () = a function within PHP that sends mail from the server IF your host has it turned on.

At this point, your options are simple:

    a) Use the aforementioned mail sending library called PHP Mailer with SMTP.

    b) Find another web host that allows you to use the PHP mail () function.

    c) Go to a 3rd party form service like Wufoo or JotForm.

    Good luck!

    Hi @daveharr1s0n,

Can you connect to remote server with a dedicated S/FTP client like FileZilla?

If not, you probably don't have the correct credentials.

I've never used AT&T for web hosting so have no 1st hand experience with them.  That said, see screenshot.

    Thanks, Nancy!

Actually, I contacted someone at GoDaddy. Apparently it wasn't "mapped out" correctly. I am connected now. But now I have a new problem with a php contact form. I just spent some time with the very helpful GoDaddy agent who got me reconnected, but he thinks my old contact form might not be compatible with their latest version of php. I know very little about this. Will send a question out separately here ...

Linux hosting is probably PHP 7 or higher.  These days, secure contact forms are essential.  This mail sending library should help. It's the one most hosts recommend.

For inexperienced coders, a form service like Wufoo.com, Jotform or Mailchimp might be a better option.

I tried using Server Name in FTP field too, as I know it's the same with GoDaddy hosting.

If you have been using the computer for awhile there might be a chance the site definitions are still on your computer.

    Windows:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common\{Version}\Sites

    Mac:

    Macintosh HD:username:Library:Application Support:Adobe:Common:{Version}:Sites:Site Prefs

With that said the Server Name is irrelevant.  This is if you are connecting to multiple servers or have remote/local testing servers setup and you want to distinguish.  The FTP address can be a URL (the domain) or an IP address.  They are both just pointing to the same thing.  When you try to connect what error(s) are you getting?  Also you may want to try clicking on Site-->Advanced-->FTP Log the next time you connect because that FTP error will be more specific than the generic error DW gives at times.
