Dreamweaver MX 2004 example files

Hi, I have a copy of the book Dreamweaver MX 2004 The Missing Manual, by David McFarland - ISBN: 0-596-00631-4. (I think it may be the Third Edition?) I am using this book to teach myself Dreamweaver MX 2004, so for my personal interest/learning, I am not using it in a commercial sense to create a "live" website.

I am trying to access the example files mentioned on page 25 of the book. The book refers to www.sawmac.com/dwmx2004/ to download the files, but entering this web address produces a 404 "file not found" message. Can anyone help me find the example files to download?

Oh my goodness, @Sneezyhb,

What year is this and what year was that book published?

 

Those files are long, long gone by now.  Macromedia went out of business in 2006.  Besides, nobody should be using outdated web authoring software in 2021. Too much has changed.

 

If you really want to learn something, first learn HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript code.  Read the chapters, do code exercises and take quizzes at the end.

And for gosh sakes get yourself a modern code editor, even a free one would be better than MX 2004.

Thanks for your advice, and having thought about it, I think your advice to move to more up to date software, is wise. Thanks very much for the links you provided.

Given that it is so old, I am not sure you will be able to find the files anymore. Can you elaborate on what the lesson is that you are trying to learn about? It may be possible we can find a similar article to help you with what you are trying to learn about.

Hi Ben, thanks for your reply, I think I have found what I was looking for via the books publisher. However, having thought about it, and on other advice given to me, I think I may be better off moving to more up to date software. Thanks for your assistance.
