Dreamweaver preview in browser not working Firefox 3.6 Mac

Hi,

Preview in browser not working for Firefox - Mac. I'm guessing it could be somthing to do with my update to FF 3.6 as it was fine. The browser opens but the temp file does not show.

Anyone any ideas?

Rich

I basically had same issue. For me, it seems since I installed WAMPServer64 it had to be activated/started. Once I opened it, Dreamweaver's Live Preview started working again. Watched first few seconds of this video & my problem was solved.

Hope this helps someone else too.

    Hi!

I just had this weird issue on Firefox Extended Release 115.10.0esr (64-bit) on my MBP OSX 10136.
    I solved it by:
    - deleting any cookies on brwonser pointing to localhost, 127.0.0.0 etc

    - restarting DW 2019 and deleting any other Site Definition, after backup, of course

    - load the site and... voilá!

    Hope this helps others too!

I have the answer! Firefox 3.6+ does not like spaces in the paths, so remove them altogether or replace them with dashes.

For example, if you have a folder called "web design" make it "webdesign".  Do this all along the path, from the main volume down to the folder containing your index.html file. Make sure there are no hidden trailing spaces. It happens. Then do an Edit Sites, delete the old links, and build the new one.

    It will work, I gurantee!

For the record, I have a G5 Tower (PowerPC) running 10.5.8. The Firefox version is 3.6.24. Until I buy a new Mac that's as high as I can go.

This bug has driven me insane for months as well...

It appears that FF3.6+ has new processes inhibiting the localhost

preview in browser features used in DW.

    This bug naturally blows chuncks;

(probably something to do w/ FF's:

"about:config -->security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy; {boolean set to the following} false vs True"

    | or |

    sump'n to do w/ FF's:

    "about:config --> network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris; {set to the following --->} localhost").

    Anyhow...

Here is a tolerable work-around w/ very little impact involved. You will end up w/

both FF's latest version installed, while sort uh reverse integrating back to 3.5.15

(when needing to preview in browser via DW), by pointing @ the appropriate

version needed to run the preview in browser feature!

    1. Okay, so; Remove the FF3.6+ app that's in the Applications folder and stick it in the trash, or somewhere else, or wherever.

    2. Search the Google and grab a copy of the old FF3.5.15, like this link here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5.15/releasenotes/.

    3. Download that old FF3.5.15 build and once its in your Applications folder, then move it to a savvy location, i.e. a folder on the desktop or something.

    4. Next, move FF3.6+ back to the Applications folder (I'm on 4.0 by now (w/ still no bloody fix... (sheesh))).

So now, we have the FF3.6+ is back where it should be (in Applications), and we also have the old FF3.5.15 saved in said savvy location.

    5. Now, we point DW @ the old version of FF (3.5.15) via:

         a. Preferences

         b. Preview in browser

         c. Select Firefox as Primary Browser, and up at the top to the left of the + - fields, choose to edit the folder browser location for which DW shall rely on.

         d. Point the folder browser @ the old FF3.5.15 saved in your savvy location.

         e. Make sure that "Preview using temporary file" selection is enumerated w/ a check before selecting [Okay] to save these settings.

    6. Now, when you Select "Preview/Debug in browser", yer DW is pointing @ the old FF and works super-fantastic (as it should).

***Remember, you can't run two versions of FF simultaneously, but you can run them parallel at different times w/ no impact!***

    7. When you wanna see how it appears in the latest FF+ builds, close down the old FF, launch the new version w/ DW running, then (if you already

messed w/ the about:config processes noted above) it should launch yer DW page when previewed THE FIRST TIME, AND THE FIRST TIME ONLY!

If you close this page when being previewed in FF+ builds, you'll have to

quit FF, then re-launch again to get your one-time-preview before having to

close FF again to re-preview said DW page, but really; screw the latest version:

Use the latest Firefox (3.6+) for secure surfing, use the old Firefox (3.5.15) for debugging!

Minus the impact of the one-time-set-up,

this work-around is the best of both.

    ^___^

You are aware that Firefox 4 is out now as well as 5 (beta), right?

    Yeah, that's why I said 3.6+ emphasizing the "+".

4.0 is busted, too, tested as of yesterday.

    idk about the beta.

What fixed it for me was to go to Edit Browser List and check the box that says: Preview using Temporary File.

    same issue.

FF 3.6.13 on a mac - the latest version - and previews on FF broke while they work perfect in Safari, Opera, Chrome, etc.

Works now that I upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Same thing here. The “Preview in Browser” in DW has stopped working in Firefox and does not work in Firefox 3.6.3. Removing spaces in the path name and setting “testing sever” to "none" does not work either.

Hey all. It seems that the problem is fixed with Dreamweaver CS5 (trial) and Firefox 3.6.3. Although I am still holding my breath for my CS4 to work

A few days ago (for reasons totally unrelated to the browser preview issue) I ended up reinstalling my operating system, upgrading to Snow Leopard and reinstalling CS4. So, of course, the Firefox install is 3.6.2.

And Firefox browser preview works in Dreamweaver CS4! Yay!  But I'm not sure what did it. Reinstalling everything is pretty drastic, and it's hard to say what part of it actually did the trick.

In any event, the browser preview does work if you get everything just right . Somehow.

Well I just updated to Firefox 3.6.3, but it didn't fix the issue for me.

No way I can afford the time to re-install the entire system right now, unfortuantely.

I just updated to FF 3.6.2 with DW CS4 Build 4117, MBP OSX 10.6.2.

    Still nothing!

Restarted, reset DW browser list - nothing.

Guess 3.6.2 is not the answer.

Before you bookmark, you can just test in Chrome, Safari, or Opera, or IE if you're on windows, and quickly copy/paste the URL to FF if you have to use any of the 3rd party geegaws available there. I find reconstructing the path to a MAMP port location possible but a bit tedious.

As this problem was "ain't broke" until the FF fix came along, personally I choose not to blame Dreamweaver.

I would imaging the security fixes in the new FF are there for a reason, and so would rather not back-grade. Perhaps the security is the source of the problem? A balance of security vs. ease of functionality is always an issue, whether one is a software developer, or anybody who has a house or apartment with a front door. I look forward to the 3.6.2 fix mentioned by Mason above.
