hello,

today, I've start back on a new project and for that I launched DW... most of the time I'm most using external software for coding once the project is running (ST, Grunt, Node, Sasson Ruby...)

so now I was back for intensive work on our old friend DW... and what was my surprise... woaw.... a simple Ctrl V + Ctrl to replace 18 instance on a single open document took... almots 30 seconds give me back the hand...

splitting design / code... works... cliking on desing works... cliking on code view... took almost 40 second to give me hand and select anything... once something is selected... DW hangs perhaps 30 seconds before give the hand...

I went on tasks manager... and I saw that DW took 480 Mo, and Helper 920 Mo...

any idea ?

thanks...

birnou

    Correct answer pziecina

all my working folder are automaticaly defined in .ste files...

but you're right I'm working on a synology... but I always did...

I found that when not working with local files, the slow down was gradual, in that the more none local files i referenced or tried to use, the slower Dw became, until it eventual got to the point where i could make a coffee, drink it, and watch a half hour tv program before anything happened.

Doing a complete CC clean, and reinstall, did fix the problem until i started work again, and Dw got slower and slower.

Quite honestly Birnou, I have wondered if it would be better to stop Dw updates for a year or so, and in that time develop a completely new web development environment from new.

With each version, Dw becomes less and less relevant to what is required. One reason I think that is happening is because there is so much old code being used, and so called removed features still being left in the code.

my question is... woaw... is it my own environment which is too bloated by much (I don't know what, but say... much of much...)... or if it is DW that is really slow...

well, say that other softs around here work, so eveything indicate that it is DW... at least should be DW...

that's why I've send this bottle in the ocean of this forum...

tomorrow if I find some time I will set a pure brand new virtual machine... allow it much ressources and install DW... and see what's going on there...

but I have a question... if folks around this forum use DW for a daily task... how respond the IDE ??? if it is not slow a real heavy duty task... that do mean that it must be time for me to buy a brand new machine... perhaps mine is too old
