Dreamweaver won't let me view code

I've been having this problem since upgrading to 2017.1

Intermittently, the code does not show, which makes it impossible for me to edit a file.

I normally work in split code/design mode.  At some point, I'll open a file, and the code portion is all white or all grey.  No code. Once this happens, I can't view code no matter what view I try.  Closing the page and re-opening it does not help.  I have deleted my preferences, but the problem has returned.

It could be this starts to happen when I have a lot of pages open.

It goes away (temporarily at least) when I quit and restart Dreamweaver.

Anyone else had this happen?

I do have it happen on occasion, even when I have one document open. When I open another document, everything becomes normal again.

Not sure why, could be because of a coding error. Dreamweaver seems to be very picky when it comes to code.
